The Coastal Mutual Aid Association is composed of 11 Southern Maine fire & rescue departments:

Member organizations of this cooperative group have pledged to provide each other with their available resources for any emergency. Up-to-date lists of equipment and apparatus are maintained and utilized to establish pre-incident plans and facilitate rapid mobilization of needed resources in an emergency. This group meets bi-monthly and is lead by officers of the participating departments.

The Coastal Mutual Aid Association also maintains a training facility on the grounds of the Yarmouth transfer station off East Main St. This facility provides classroom space as well as a multi-story structural facility for fire-rescue personnel to practice various skills in a realistic environment. Designated areas of the building are specially designed for "live fire" evolutions. A paved area is provided at the facility for members to practice vehicle fire and extrication drills. This facility is also used on occasion by regional law enforcement tactical teams and to train arson-detection dogs from around the country.
